Over the Hump

Today were starting to get ready for sophomores to come back! We're starting to think about pick up locations, bus drivers and plans for cleaning, drying and de-issuing all of our camping equipment.

Here's what I know about where folks are going to be picked up:

Lincoln Woods - modified pick up at Lafayette Campground due to slower than planned day yesterday.
Gilman's Corner - on track for pick up in Kinsman Notch.
Gordon Pond - planning to make up time and be on track for pick up west of Blueberry Mountain unless I hear from them today.
Reel Brook - the only group I haven't heard a peep out of all week. That's great news and means they are on track and doing well and scheduled for pick up at Lincoln Woods as planned.
Mayhew - Doing great, Swanson has a bus so they are driving themselves home.
Kinsman Notch - Second hand sighting yesterday so they're on track for pick up at Gilman's Corner.

I learned last year that our pick up drivers had been arranging a bit of trail magic for the groups they pick up in the form of treats, donuts or snackies. Unfortunately not every driver was so kind, so some groups felt slighted. This year I'm arranging the pick up snackies so when every group gets picked up not only will they have a smiling faculty member to welcome them, but they'll also have a couple of donuts to help ease the transition back to real life.

Today marks the end of most of the big hiking. Tomorrow groups will need to hike a short distance to the bus. This typically is the quickest camp take down and breakfast of the week! In fact some groups will hike today and tomorrow's mileage all today and just have a quick walk out for the morning. Amazing what a little motivation will do!
