I've noticed a couple of things about how Sophomores react when they come home. They tend to eat a lot. Pizza and ice cream are favorites. They tell bigger and bigger stories about the mountains, the snow and the blisters. They appreciate things more for a while. They are more confident in themselves. They take a while to talk about the really interesting parts of the trip. Maybe that's because they need to process for a while. They have a new language, LNT, Leader of the Day, Deuce, and other vocab that I don't even know is common place for them.
Most of all they are happy they went and happy to be back. My advice is to give them some room (and some pizza) and the stories and learnings will come out over time.
